Mary Lindahl & Loreen Ozolins - Master Chi Running Instructors - Active at Altitude

This camp will be limited to 12 residential participants and 6 non residential, to insure lots of individual feedback and personal attention.  The first day of camp will begin with a video gait analysis of your running form.   We'll watch it in slow motion which is usually very revealing.  We'll then cover the Chi Running drills, exercises and focuses that will be most helpful to you.  Days 2, 3 and 4 of the camp will begin with an inspiring run on the roads and trails in and around Estes Park and the camp will conclude with a second "after" video gait analysis.

Topics covered include:

  • Proper Running Posture: Body Alignment, Core Engagement, and Relaxation
  • Leaning from the ankles: Engaging the pull of gravity for forward propulsion
  • Lifting the ankles: Learn to lift rather than push off to minimize wasted vertical motion
  • Efficient Arm Swing:  Learn to use your body as a team of two with your upper body doing its fair share
  • How to Begin a Run: Body Looseners and starting in first gear
  • How Chi Walking helps Chi Running
  • Breathing: Actively exhale, relax to inhale
  • Pelvic Rotation: Cooperating with the force of the road
  • Gears: Your lean is your gas pedal
  • Cadence: Always run at your optimal cadence whether in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear
  • Drills: Knee bending drill, pool running drill, working with a metronome
  • Hills: Techniques for gradual and steep uphills and downhills
  • Stretches: Active isolated stretching after your run
  • Program Development: Setting and achieving your running goals and adding Chi Running focuses to your training program
